Branding 101:
Oasis and ROSE

A safe haven for Web3

Crypto is often seen as a digital landscape filled with risks and rewards. Our vision was to create a network defined by safety, security, and prosperity, offering blockchain users an oasis of privacy and trust in the otherwise unpredictable world of Web3 & AI. The name Oasis was chosen for our network to embody our role in providing the privacy infrastructure Web3 & AI needs to scale to mass adoption in a secure, safe, and responsible manner.

The Oasis trademark is used for services related to the Oasis Network, our key privacy solutions, and more. We provide the privacy infrastructure Web3 needs to scale, including Oasis Sapphire (confidential EVM), the Oasis Privacy Layer (plug-and-play cross-chain privacy), Pontus-X by Delta DAO (confidential developer environment designed for enterprise adoption), Oasis Cipher (research environment on Rust for creating confidential dApps), Oasis Emerald (our first implementation of an EVM-compatible ParaTime), and key ecosystem products like ROSE Wallet (used to send and receive digital assets on the network), Oasis Explorer (for Sapphire and Emerald), Oasis Scan (for the consensus layer), Oasis Nexus (the official indexer tool for the network), and Oasis CLI (all-in-one tool for interacting with the network).

Why “ROSE”?

The name ROSE was chosen for our native token to embody our role as pioneers in advancing information security, data privacy, and confidentiality across Web3 & AI.  Throughout ancient and medieval history, ROSE has been associated with secrecy and social revolution based on privacy.

The ROSE trademark is used for services related to wallets, payment of specific services on our network, and activities and educational programs including the ROSE Garden, our community’s go-to resource for everything related to the Oasis Network.

The Role of ROSE in Our Network

The ROSE token is used for transaction fees, staking, and delegation at the consensus layer and ParaTime layers. Oasis users and validators can participate in key decisions across the Oasis Network by holding ROSE tokens and voting on decisions; by staking and delegating ROSE with validators, users can earn rewards over time. The ROSE Wallet enables users to send and receive digital assets on the Oasis Network, including ROSE. Users have the choice between a web wallet and a browser extension, with a mobile version planned for the future.

Current payment, staking, and on-ramps with ROSE are enabled by Transak and RocketX on the consensus layer and PancakeSwap (via cBridge) and illumineX on Oasis Sapphire.

ROSE is used to pay transaction fees when users interact with various distributed applications (called dApps) on the Oasis Network. Users presently need ROSE to pay fees to interact with dApps operating on Oasis Sapphire, the Ethereum-compatible chain running on the Oasis Network, such as:
