Participants from around the world competed for a chance to win over $10,000 worth of ROSE token prizes.

The Oasis Foundation is excited to announce the winners of The Quest for ROSE: An Oasis Network Hackathon. Participants from around the world competed for a chance to win over $10,000 worth of ROSE token prizes.

The hackathon ran from November 9th through December 2nd on the Gitcoin developer platform, with support from prominent partners across tech, crypto, venture capital, and academia, including Second State, Nebula Genomics, Figment, Blockchain at Berkeley, Blockchain at Michigan, and many more.

Hackers were tasked with tackling two main challenges:

  1. Building the best responsible data application using the Parcel SDK and
  2. Building the best original app or port of an existing Ethereum app using the Oasis Ethereum ParaTime.

Project submissions were scored by a slate of experienced leaders in the crypto space, including Andrew Cronk, Co-Founder of Figment, David Wu, Chief Development Officer at Netskope, Hung-Ying Tai, VP of Engineering at Second State, and others. For more information on our judges, check out our judges spotlight here.

Applications received scores in 5 main categories, with the winners having the highest total score across all categories:

  • Meets the challenge (e.g. how well does it solve the stated challenge)
  • Quality of technical implementation
  • Real world applicability
  • Design & usability
  • Originality

We received a wide range of submissions from participants all around the globe. In the end, 3 projects were selected as winners for the Parcel SDK challenge, and 2 projects were selected as winners for the Oasis Ethereum Protocol challenge.

We thank everyone who participated in making this hackathon a success. We are excited to continue welcoming new developers into the Oasis Network community and working together to build a privacy-enabled DeFi and a responsible data economy.
